Swiss Mocha Dresser

I had my husband pick up this dresser last week on his way home from work (so glad the new company car is a Ford Escape, just like mine, and can fit furniture!). It was gorgeous, solid, and heavy, just needed some refinishing. Here it is before...

I sanded it, primed it with my new favorite KILZ Clean Start (leaves a VERY smooth feeling finish!), and painted it with a Behr mistint that I am dubbing swiss mocha. It reminds me of my favorite Swiss Miss hot cocoa, once I have stirred in my milk. Can you tell I am ready for cool Autumn nights? (And I know the color appears gray green on some of your screens, but it really is in the milky brown family!) Anyhow, while the dresser was being painted, I primed and painted the hardware white. It was in great shape, and silver in tone and pretty as it was, but I really wanted it to pop against the Swiss mocha color. I left the whole piece undistressed for a more modern vintage feel. This one is going to be hard to part with. Even though I don't have much of this brown tone in my house, I am loving the color. What do you think? It was a first time for me using this color, so I would love your feedback!

Okay, you want feedback, how about....I LOVE THIS TO BITS! Not sure if it's my computer screen though the colour is throwing a bit of green - does it have a juniper undertone in person? Anyways, whatever undertone it has, it's gorgeous. I love the white handles. Gives such a fresh little pop.

I love this color! The legs on the dresser are gorgeous - great find! What is Kilz Clean Start as opposed to regular Kilz oil based primer? I haven't heard of it.

Cassie! it's beautamous! (my niece's fav word, even though she's 29)
I love the lines of this piece! I'm sure the computer must be playing with us, but I agree Kristine, it looks like a lucious green. I love the contrast of the hardware! This little beauty will go fast!

It's a great colour, although not what I was expecting when you said swiss mocha, it looks more grey on my computer screen. I do love it though!

I love the shape and details on this. So pretty. But I'm not seeing mocha at all. I'm seeing a green gray color which is very pretty!

It is gorgeous! Great lines and detail. The white hardware is perfect. Gives it a little "Hollywood" feel. I'm seeing more of a gray green on my computer as well. Swiss mocha sounds beautiful! I would have a hard time parting with this one for sure.

I love the color! It's not too brown, looks a little more gray to me on my screen. It looks wonderful with the hardware sprayed white!! Great job!

Found another armoire for $14 the other, so I snatched it up, but it doesn't have any doors on it again!! Dang it!! :P What is it with people taking the doors off?!?!

It's so elegant! I agree it has a Hollywood feel.

What products do you use for priming and painting hardware? They look great!

I really like the color. I would like to paint some furniture brown but didn't want that awful dark brown stuff that "screams" paint. Really do like this color though...

This is exactly my vision for that dresser I was telling you about! My project for the week.. along with a dining table/bookcase/chairs/end tables/everything under the sun.

I'll let you know how it all turns out (finally got an orbital sander!)!

Gorgeous Cassie! Looks gray on my computer, too. I can't wait to see it in person (lucky I live near you)!

I love the color! Our stores never have any good oops colors, you lucked out with that one! It would go perfect in my house!

I love it. The color and the detail make it look very traditional. And I love how the white of the hardware pops against the dark color! I'd say you lucked out with that Oops paint!

Hi Cassie, The color reads dark gray on my computer. But it definitely has a very sophisticated feel. Love the pop of white on the pulls and the lovely detailing on the dresser. Plus leaving it undistressed adds to the formality. It looks fabulous, as always!

The dresser has such beautiful lines. The color is misleading on my screen but I'm sure it is great in real life!

I saw this link at My Backyard Eden's party and came over here because this color looked so delicious! ...and I can't duplicate it! It stinks it was a mistint. On the other hand, I've got to find that bin at my local Home Depot or Lowe's because everyone keeps getting these great colors...
