My First Silhouette Project!

Back on cyber Monday, I bought myself a Silhouette craft cutter.  I had told my husband I wanted one for Christmas, but when I started to explain what it was I lost him at the word "craft".  So I told him I would just order it myself but that it was my Christmas present.  It came last week, and I finally had time to sit down and skim through the pictures in thoroughly read the directions.  It also came with a $10 download credit to buy some designs.  So I naturally shopped before I had much of an idea of what I was going to make.  I bought (of course) 2 cute owl designs, and it just so happened I had bought some frames at Goodwill the other day!  Here are the frames I bought, which came with thick material inside which the sihouettes are mounted on.

I started by removing the inserts and I  mod podged black and gray faux bois scrapbook paper onto them.  I painted the frames white at first, but didn't like how it looked, so I changed that to chalboard paint.  I used the Silhouette to cut out my cute owl shapes on white paper, and then mod podged those onto my paper background.  It's dark here right now, and these pictures are on our lower level of a split foyer, so it's dark and it was really hard to take good shots.  Hopefully you get the idea!

And by the way, starting Januarty 10th, this room is being drywalled!  Woo-hoo!  Bye bye paneling!

How do you like the Silhouette? I wanted one, but opted for a Cricut instead.

Ha! I ordered mine on Cyber Monday too! Hubby said I ruined his Christmas present for me, but I couldn't wait and hope that he would actually buy it. I did a wall design on my sink valance as my first project.

I wish I'd waited for a Silhouette. I really don't want to buy any more Cricut cartridges.
