Making a Lollipop Flower Pot

Emmy's birthday party is this coming Sunday and the theme is "Sweets 4 the Sweet: A Candy Shoppe Party".  I have been working on some candy themed decorations, and my sihouette has been my best friend through this process.  I decided to make 2 lollipop flowers for our table.  Since I am so cheap thrifty and savvy, I recycled last year's Pinkaliscious party decorations, seen here.

I saved them as is in my basement, so all I did to make the lollipop flowers was remove the existing flowers, leaving in a block of green floral foam covered by red shredded and crimped paper.  I added a dowel, and then to the top of the dowel I added a green circle, 4" in diameter and 2" thich which I purchased in a 2 pack from the Dollar Tree.  So then we had this...
Clearly, a cup of coordinating coffee is vital in this process.  Using my silhouette, I cut out 4" circles and pale pink "4"'s.  My husband claims he is going to tell people I have mad cutting skills, since barely any of my friends know what a silhoutte is.  Thanks, honey!
I used Mod Podge and adhered the numbers to the circles.  When that had dried, I adhered the paper circles to the green foam circles, which led to this...
The paper wrinkled a little bit because so much air is able to get in due to the porous quality of the foam.  That is your science lesson for the day.  Oh well, wrinkles aren't that bad unless they're on your face, like the ones forming around my eyes.  Those are bad wrinkles.  Finally, you get to add the lollipos of your choice.  In our house, Dum-Dums are hands down the best!  We love their small size, and their flavors.  I love coconut.  Yum.
And finally, you have a very simple and cute little potted lollipop flower that the kids can all destroy in a matter of seconds as they reach for their dum dums.  Oh well! Well worth their enjoyment!

Cassie, have you ever seen giant lollipops made out of foam plates, a dowel and colored cellophane? Here's a link to some like I'm talking about. These would be so cute lined up leading to the door! What a cute theme for your daughter's b'day! Have fun!

Very cute! What a fun idea! I love candy shoppe parties. Last year I did an ice cream shoppe party for my daughter (10) and son (7). It was fun.

Very cute and fun! Did Emmy help you on this project? I know she likes to do her arts and crafts as well. Those wrinkles look fine! I've got some around my eyes that do not. Oh well!

I am looking at this one of two ways....RJ's birthday is in a week and he is going to be 15. I can make these for his party, or I could just have another baby and once lollipops are age appropriate for the new child, I can make one of these...I'm think I'll lean towards the new baby choice since RJ would divorce me as a parent if I did this for him...

OK, seriously way to cute!

Take care,
Lisa
