Cheerful Front Door, a Gallery Wall, and a Squirrel Bong

Happy Memorial Day!  I hope you have been enjoying the long weekend and have also taken time to thank in your hearts those who are serving and have served our country.

As I already told you about my Saturday... Sunday we went to a cookout with my team from the gym.  I coach a challenge team twice a year, and we compete by earning points for various activities, and for coming to the gym a certain number of times.  I have coached it for almost 4 years now, and I am the only group ex instructor who coaches a team.  Mostly trainers do it, but when they started the program I volunteered to help because it's so rewarding.  I have seen so many people reach goals, lose weight, feel better... it's what the fitness industry is all about.  My team this past session was the closest knit group and the best team I have ever coached.  We won the challenge, which was exciting, but we formed awesome friendships.  So yesterday was spent celebrating those friendships with a cookout, mostly healthy food of course!  My kids had a blast playing hide and seek with the other kids there!  Last night we all crashed.

Today was project day!  I have been wanting to paint my front door for some time, but had no time to do it!  Finally, Lucketts is over and I needed to get it done!  It was a pretty pink berry color that went well with the pale gray, white, and black of the house, but I wanted change.  And I didn't want red because it's too done... I went with a bright and cheerful yellow!  It still needs another coat which it will get tomorrow, but I couldn't resist showing you!  Here it is before...
In the above picture, we did not have our storm door on because it had broken.  We now have it back up, but I propped it open so you can see the door better.  Here is the front door now!
It is certainly bright and I need to get used to it, but I think I like it.  Time will tell.
I also worked on the wall facing you as you walk in your front door.  I added the owls a month or so ago, and I loved the two big ones in the frame, but I wasn't feeling it was the right spot for the 4 small ones (I need to find a new place fro them... ideas?)  I took down the small ones, and created a gallery wall.  I clearly need to fill some of the frames, but I have some saved printables I plan to print out soon and add.  For now, it looks like this!
Now onto a couple spray paint projects!  The other day when I went to Wild Rose with Emily, not only did we happen to get there on bulk trash day, but we also stumbled upon a barn full of vintage junk.  The dirty gross trinket-y kind, but if you are willing to search, you might find some treasures.  I found this adorable tree and squirrel vase for $2!
Isn't it precious?  My husband kept trying to convince me that it was a bong.  I am pretty naive when it comes to things like that, so I started to question myself... I was thinking, "Oh my gosh, I just bought a vintage bong!"  He started to laugh, so I had to ask "Are you messing with me?".  Indeed he was.  Jerk.
Anyhow, I spray painted it white, and I personally think it looks lovely enough for flowers, not of the weed variety. ;)

And finally, you may remember that Sharon gave me an adorable owl wall pocket as a gift at Lucketts.  I finally had the chance to get that painted today as well.    I had taken a print out of our bathroom to add the the gallery wall, so it was perfect for that spot, and I already had a nail there! :)  I just need to get some branches or something to stick inside of it.  Maybe I could make it my personal tampon holder.  Kidding- it is way to cute for such a task!

I also started working on a couple custom orders today now that Lucketts is over, and also worked on a dresser which I hope to reveal tomorrow.  Stay tuned, and enjoy what's left of the long weekend!

I LOVE the yellow door! The previous berry color looks like the same color as Ali's door, and while I like it a lot, I definitely like it yellow even more!! :) And yay for the gallery wall (and for the framed owl card :)! That definitely made me smile!!). And I love that squirrel/tree vase now that it's all white. It looks perfect next to that yellow owl! (And is that wood-grain vinyl paper/wall paper in your shelving unit?? If so, I NEED some and would love to know where you found yours!!) :) Happy Memorial day!

I like the door, gallery wall and your "bong". I thought it looked like one too until you painted it. Your husband is funny. I love seeing what you do. It's always fun.

I love the door (so cheerful!) and the squirrel vase (so cute!). How did you reach above the stairs to hang the art? I have an awkward spot like that where I plan on putting up a gallery wall, but I think ours might be even higher up.

You have such vision! I would have passed that squirrel right by...but I love it in white! I keep thinking he's brave to be out on a branch right next to that owl, though. :-)

Love the door! There's a house around here that has a yellow door and two matching chairs out front and I love it!

huge post cassie! :)

your owls are too cute, and I love the yellow door! I probably need to do something like that because I have no curb appeal. If I painted my door a bright and cheery color, maybe passers by would not notice the u.g.l.y. hehehehe

Lol Cassie, your title had me...I was thinking that maybe what we know as a bong was something else to you guys, but no in fact we call it the same thing, and you did mean the sort of bong that I was thinking! (Not that I have or would ever use one!)

Your front door looks wonderful :)

Love the door color!! Our front door is blah green right now which matches our shutters. I have been thinking about updating to red, but it is done, like you said. Yellow is always an option, but we are wanting to sell soon and it might be a little bright for some people. I'm extremely indecisive so maybe I can decide on a color soon! Thanks for the before and after!!

Ok, first of all I think you're going to love the yellow door. I did like the red, but I agree that red doors are so done. Yellow seems like the perfect color for your front door (I mean look at your gallery wall...white and yellow!). And speaking of the gallery wall, I LOVE it! I want to do something similar in my living room and yours is so cute that it's inspired me to start collecting for my own wall. And finally, I have to admit that I was kinda doubtin' you on the squirrel vase...but after you painted it I totally love it! (And p.s., I would've believed it was a bong, too! ;)

Love the yellow door! Perfect. I painted the side door to my shop yellow last year and love it! I would have agreed with the bong from your husband....but after painting the little vase....two thumbs up! You have the vision, girl!

I love the yellow door- It was what I wanted to do, but I ended up going with red. I agree that it is over done, but in the end it is the accent color in my home and I wanted to paint the interior side as well, so red was the best choice for me. I say others need to pick another color and leave red for me- it is one of my colors so they can bite me----oops,

The squirrel bong looks great white- what a change.

I think the yellow door is awesome!! To be honest I love it even more then the pink. And I died when I read that Chris had you convinced it was a bong!! I should have commented last night because i have nothing witty or funny to say :-(

So in love with your yellow door! Great color choice!!

I LOVE the yellow door! It looks great with the black and white. I wish I could do something bold like that with my front door, but it is probably against the homeowner rules for our neighborhood - maybe I could do the door from the garage to the house.....

I love the door!!!! WOW What a breath of fresh air!!

Squirrel bong HAAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only you Cassie =)

I love the yellow door! I have yellow doors pinned on my pinterest board. I have brick out front though so I'm not sure yet. Plus I have shutters that are sort of burgundy and they need paint too! I'd like the shutter to be black.
Your bong cracked me up. Looks cute in white.

Big thumbs up on the yellow door, Cassie! It suits your house and your personality. :)

And you had me *rolling* with the bong and the tampon comments.
