Summery Green Sideboard

Note: I planned on saving this piece to share tomorrow since my furniture link party is still going on (see previous post!), but I am just too excited about this one!!!

I have told you all before of a kind gentleman who comes to my classes at the gym and gives me his old furniture if he is getting rid of it and thinks I may be able to use it.  Just before Lucketts, he gave me this very solid sideboard.  It is a newer piece, but sturdy and had potential...

I knew I wanted to do something really fun with it.  Heck, it was free, so a great chance to try out a new color!  I had been dying to use Annie Sloan's Antibes Green chalk paint.  It worked beautifully on this piece, no sanding or priming required, which made me happy!!!  Once the two coats of paint were complete and dry, I distressed it with sandpaper and a paint scraper.  Then I went over it all by brushing on "Dune Gray" semi-solid deck stain from Cabot.  Once that was dry I gave the piece a good waxing.  And I am so happy with the result!  It is such a fun piece, and will surely add a summer punch to someone's home.... soon, I hope!

Does it make you happy like it does for me?  Such a happy green!
And I know some of you are wondering still what is up my sleeve.... my meeting yesterday was not too great or promising, and let me nervous and doubtful, so I am not spilling yet. Sorry! Just send me some good karma that everything will work out!

Cassie I saw this piece first when I was trolling Craigslist. The color is so summery-perfect for serving drinks at a BBQ! I have got to get some chalk paint to paint my entertainment center. The thought of not having to sand that beast is very enticing!

Cassie you sure have a nice gentleman taking classes! Does he really know what you can do with furniture? I'm so happy you changed out those diamond knobs, they were dating that piece. And now you've got me dying to know what your meeting was all about.

Hi Cassie,
Thank you for sending Renee my way. I am so happy to see your happy green. Antibes is the first Annie Sloan Chalk Paint color I ever laid eyes on. Needless to say I was hooked. I love what you did with the glaze that piece is truly transformed! Did you hear Annie is coming out with several new colors? I think one will be an old linen color I can't wait!!! Keep up the GREAT and creative work.
