Piece of Work Wednesday Furniture Link Party Number 43!

Hi there!  Hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July!  We started off by going to the local parade and spending time with friends there.  Then we had some friends over here for a cookout, and made some new friends who came as well!  I always like meeting new friends. :)  All in all, it was just a nice happy day!

I was also able to get quite  a bit of work done this weekend.  I already showed you the campaign dresser.   This huge triple dresser my husband picked up for me.  It was a $50 craigslist find, and I was drawn to its chic shape.  It is made of bentwood on the outer drawers, which is pretty cool.  I also liked the hardware, though you only see half of it here because I started removing it and then thought, "ah, before picture!".

I gave it a good sanding, and then brought it inside and primed it with two coats of Kilz Clean Start primer.  I thought I was going to paint it white, but after emailing back and forth with Jaime, I decided to use the same pretty Wedgewood Gray from the campaign dresser.  I then used a polycrylic topcoat because I wanted that pretty shine on this piece.  It's very different from anything I have done, but i love it!! If it is still here when we movie, maybe it will find a new home in my new bedroom. ;)

So let's see what you have been working on!

Thanks Cassie for the shout out! I'm so glad you went with the wedgewood, it's beautiful and really makes that vintage hardware pop. Your kids are too cute in their red, white and blue, glad to hear you had a nice day. PS - Love that before and after of your house, can't blame you for painting those blue shutters! It's much more visually appealing and simply classic except with that cute yellow door twist. Crossing my fingers for you.

What a neat dresser! It has such a 50's vibe to it, reminds me of one that my grandmother had. How cool that it came with all the original hardware! Love it, love the new color :) Michelle

Love the lines of your dresser. can't wait to find a good 40s 50s art deco style dresser that I can do in metallic silver, but moving so it has to wait.

I like how the new blue paint job leaves the dresser feeling not as visually heavy as it did before. What a unique piece.

That thing is sooooo cool!! I am so in to bent wood (mid-century coolness), and the color you chose along with the hardware is a perfect match!! Nice work! (and cute kiddos - seriously!!)

Ooooo, I like the dresser...a lot.

I get sad when I don't have projects to submit to the party. I found the most awesome cabinet (with quarterfoil on the bottom) at the Salvation Army last week..but they wanted $80 for it...if it goes 1/2 price...it is mine!!
