Friday Guest: Steph from BirdHouse

Hi All!!!  I am so excited about today's guest.  She has got awesome clean style- beautiful bold colors mixed with mid century yumminess!  Today, Steph from BirdHouse is here to share her craft room.  You are about to be blown away with serious eye candy.  You might even need some sunglasses.... I warned you.  Be prepared to be blinded by awesomeness!!!

I’m so excited to be guest posting on Cassie’s blog today! This is my very first guest post, and I’m honored that it’s on Cassie’s fabulous blog. Not only is she supremely talented, but Cassie is also one of the friendliest bloggers out there. She’s always supportive and does a tremendous job commenting on everyone’s posts.

My name is Steph and I blog over at BirdHouse. Creating and blogging are my escape from a busy day job, and I typically blog about crafts, furniture redos, and design inspirations. Cassie suggested I post about my craft room, which I’ve been working on for the past few months. I’m not quite done, but I’m excited to show you my progress. I’ve included links to relevant posts, where you can find detailed information for each project.

This is what the room first looked like back in January. It was a complete disaster zone. It lacked storage and definitely did not inspire creativity.

I decided it was time for a change, so I cleared everything out and came up with a plan:

Then I refinished this china cabinet to store all of my crafting supplies and the pretty things I like to collect.

I love the way it looks against the teal wall!

Next, I refinished this dresser to create even more storage space.

The decorative accents are mostly thrift/antique store finds.

The lamp used to be white.

Then it got a little makeover.

I also needed a work surface in this room. Unable to find a thrifted desk in the right dimensions, I bought an inexpensive IKEA desk and glammed it up with some gold and white paint.

Here is the refinished desk, along with a gratuitous shot of my favorite pup.

That lamp used to be white too.

It’s now a cheery yellow.

My most recent project in this room was covering up that unsightly electrical panel you may have noticed in one of the first photos. My solution? Framed wallpaper panels.

They’re easy to take off if we need to access the electrical panel. The size and color provide a nice balance to the teal wall on the opposite side of the room.

Well, that about sums up my progress in my craft room. Still to come? More art, a couple of chairs, a rug, new lighting, some shelves, and an inspiration board. I hope you’ll stop by my blog to check on my progress with this room and to see what else I’ve been up to!

Wow! I cannot get over the transformation of that dresser. I literally did a double-take and scrolled up and down several times to be sure it was the same one! The overall look of the room now is just beautiful :)

Steph did a great job! Colourful and functional with the freshly painted furniture and accessories. Love the idea of the 3 large wallpaper frames to add interest and cover the panel.

BirdHouse is one of my favorite newer blogs. I have been loving each and every project Steph has done in her craft room. I even spotted a similar lamp at a thrift store recently and scooped it up so I could spray paint it a bright color like Steph's.
