Friday Guest: Caroline from A Flair for Vintage Decor (and Some Features)

Happy Friday morning!  Boy has this week flown by! Sawyer finally started talking again yesterday, and is starting to eat more.  Everyone has told us to load him up on ice cream, and he doesn't even want any. So yesterday, I took him with me to the grocery store, and I told him, "Anything you want."  I just wanted the child to eat.  So our cart was loaded with dinosaur mac n cheese, Alvin and the Chipmunks gummies, cars juicy juice boxes, brownie mix, reese's peanut butter ice cream bars, strawberry cream cheese, and bagels.... and that is not even all of it!  And might I add that is not a typical grocery store trip for us....  Maybe this weekend we will get something on the healthier side in him.

Today was also the first day I got an open mouth smile from him. It meant so much to me, because he smiled at the memories he and I created just the night before.  That smile brought me to tears, in a very good way.

Anyhow, you are not here to hear about all that! You are here because I have an awesome guest for you!  Today, I am welcoming Caroline from A Flair for Vintage Decor, and boy does she have a flair!  She and her husband have just moved into a beautiful old house we are catching glimpses of, like this peek of the living room....

Out of a magazine, right?  Amazing!  I am having fun watching as Caroline transforms her new home with her incredible style!  Today she is here to share her dining room with us.  Take it away, Caroline!  And Happy weekend!

Hi Primitive & Proper readers!

Cassie was so sweet to invite me to guest post!  I thought I would share our dining room...which we just put together since we recently moved into a new (to us) home!  Tuffy is my little West Highland Terrier...and he always loves to get in the photos somehow:)

We still have a lot to do...like finding a rug for the entry hall...but good things take time!  We are hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year...so it has pushed me to get the dining room finished...at least a little bit!

I put some of our china out to see what it looks like in the new dining room...

...the dining room was in pretty good shape when we bought the house...but the plaster walls needed a little TLC...so we re-painted pretty much all of the house.

The chairs are from an antique store in Charlottesville, VA (where I am from) which we had re-upholstered in this buffalo check pattern...and the console is an Ikea cabinet I skirted with a softened jute fabric...one of my favorite fabrics to use.

I found these pink plates at a local estate sale...and the shell balls are some things I carry in my "little store" here in Nashville.

The mirror was also an estate sale find...

...just some Thanksgiving decorations in the making.

Old Time Pottery has been very helpful...as I found some Greek key candles...napkin holders and the dried flowers...for next to nothing!

Hope you liked the little tour of our dining room....

I am happy that we are well on our way to being ready for Thanksgiving!

Thanks Cassie for asking me to guest post...it really helped motivate me to get this room done...at least enough for now!

Take care,
Caroline

I also want to take this time to thank Suzy of Saved by Suzy for featuring me not once, but twice this week!

That shopping cart load sounds deeeelicious!!! All you needed was some wine for the Mama Bear, and it would have been a perfect haul (LOL). Thanksgiving will be beautiful at her table! Happy Friday, C! :)

Caroline's house is beautiful. Very classy and elegant. I love her turquoise lamps in her dining room and what an adorable dog! I'll have to pop over to her blog to see more. So happy to hear Sawyer is eating again and what a fun grocery cart full of items he picked! I could go for a few of those myself right now!
