Guest Room Reveal

Alright, folks, we finally have a room that is pretty much done, minus some of the decorative touches that will evolve over time I am sure!  Let's look back at what this room looked like on move-in day, October 6th.

Pretty darn brown, eh?  Well I shared with you the bed makeover, the dresser makeover, and of course the striped chair from yesterday's party.  Let's look at it all together now, shall we!  And let me also tell you that I purchased nothing new except curtain rods (from K-mart), the headboard (for $30), and paint.  Everything else I had on hand from the last house, so I didn't have to spend a lot on this room.  Where did I splurge?  Paint.  I used Benjamin Moore's "Simply White" in Aura semigloss for the trim, and used "Cloud Cover in Aura eggshell finish for the walls.  I was able to use one can of paint on the walls as well as the closet doors.
I also had one wall that had wallpaper on it, so I spent a good bit of time removing that as well.  Ick.  Luckily for me, that was the ONLY wall of wallpaper in the house, so that's done!  Phew.

Ok, well here is where we are today....

Emmy and I made sure the nightstands were stocked with books for our guests.  And she had to add glass jar that she painted. :)  And of course, there is the painting that started it all and inspired the color palette.  (Thanks, Andi!)

Here are the sources for everything....
rug: IKEA
curtains: IKEA
curtain rods: K-Mart
bedding: West Elm (our old bedding)
headboard: Craigslist
dresser: free from my parents
chair: free from yard sale
nightstands: $10 each from Goodwill, backed with faux bois paper from Paper Source
mirror: Goodwill, and spray painted with Krylon's Gloss gray
"B"- Rose Bowl Flea
blue ticking bedskirt- Country Curtains ( I have had this for a few years, and frankly it was the only other queen skirt I had on hand!)
mirror- the brass part is a $10 auction find, and the mirror part is just a round craft store mirror)

One room down...
