October Snow

It was absolutely insane!  We got something like 6-8 inches of snow here in Western Maryland!  I snapped some photos to share the craziness.  And let me say that snow and leaves still on trees do not mix well... the branches were so heavy with snow.  We even lost a tree!  That wasn't the only thing we lost.... POWER.  Our power went out yesterday before lunch.  I cooked grilled cheese for the kids for dinner on the grill and even made italian wedding soup on the grill!  After dinner, we all gathered around the fire and played trouble and connect 4. And we all went to bed early.... the kids at 7:15, and I was in bed at 8:45!!!  It was so nice, honestly!  The power kicked back on around midnight and I thought we were in the clear... until I was in the shower around 9:30 am this morning and the power went out.  We are on well water, so I hurried to wash my hair and get out!  My hair is clean but my legs are hairy.  Oh well.  Anyhow, the power finally came back on around 5:45 pm.  Yay!  In the meantime I painted the guest room trim and walls, and the kids went to a local church Halloween event with neighbors.  Crazy, busy, snowy weekend here!

Saturday Adventures and POWW Faves!

We woke up to this view outside the window....
So Chris made one of these....
While I made these...
And then I got to work on this (NOT fun)...
And the kids did some of this...
A busy day over here!

Let's see the POWW faves form this week!  So hard again to choose... my husband just asked me what was wrong as he saw me looking at my laptop with a furrowed brow.  My answer "I have to choose my favorites and it is just so hard!  There is an abundance of talent out there!"  That is a wonderful problem to have though.

LOOOOVE this subway art dresser from Lindauer Designs! It is beyond awesome!
NY Subway Dresser - Finished

Love this fun oversized plaid table from Paint in My Hair.  I really want to try this!

I just love the finish on this table from Whimsical Perspective, and the style and shape are stunning, too!

Amy from The Salvage Collection shared a fabulous table with an awesome solution!  Oh, and do I need to say anything about the color and finish on this one?  Sigh.... dreamy.

And finally, my pal Kirsty from A Little Bit of Sanity and a Lot of Chaos shared a fabulous barnwood headboard.  She has been cranking out some barnwood projects and they are all awesome!  Go see!

Happy Saturday!  If you are in my region of the country, get your hats, gloves, scarves, and boots, and GO PLAY!

Friday Guest: Chrissie from Chrissie's Collections

If you follow my blog mainly for the furniture projects, then I have a real treat for you today!  My guest today is Chrissie of Chrissie's Collections, and she is super talented when it comes to painting furniture, AND not afraid to use bold colors!  I love each and every one of her fun and eclectic pieces!  Here are a couple of my personal favorites...

Aren't they stunning?!??!  She is so sweet and so talented and I am excited to have her here today with some tips on adding fabric to furniture!  Take it away, Chrissie!

I cannot tell you how very excited I am to being doing a guest post on one of my very favorite blogs! Cassie is such an inspiration. She truly does seem like a lady who can do it all! I thought I would share one of my favorite ways to add some special detail to my furniture makeovers. Fabric! I love to line my drawers and cabinet backs with fabric.

To attach the fabric I use spray adhesive and a brayer

Here are some of my favorite interiors~

Thanks for looking, I hope you will stop by sometime!

Sorry guys- so much to say and squeezing it all in here!

First of all, hopefully by now you know about the Habitat Heroes Link Party going on through November 20th.  If not, click over to check it out- all pieces linked must be somehow donated to charity!  This week, I am featuring this secretary from Allison at Fab Rehab Creations.  I am in LOVE with the color combo and lines of this piece!  And check out those feet!
It was painted as part of a fundraiser for a school.  Thanks Allison for sharing, and for donating your time and efforts to a good cause!

Secondly, I shared with you yesterday my guest room dresser makeover.  Here is what it looked like when it was done....

What I didn't tell you was there was a little "snag" when it was being loaded into the car which did this to the top...
OOPS!  But nothing a little Gorilla Glue can't fix!  Hop over to the DIY Club to check out how I fixed it with my Gorilla wood glue.

The Walk of the Scarecrows, and Some Randomness

Yesterday was a fabulous day!  It began with like most mornings these with my walk with Jake the wonder dog.  It's staying dark longer lately in the mornings, and it's so peaceful to walk and catch just the faint silhouettes of the deer.  When I returned home, we fed the kids and got Sawyer off to school. (By the way, thank you to all who have asked, Sawyer has adjusted beautifully and is doing great in his new school!)

I made coffee and relaxed for a bit while Emmy colored and we awaited the arrival of my friend Sarah and her daughter, Olivia, who is adorable!!!  Sarah was SO sweet and brought me a housewarming gift!  It was adorable!  She upcycled this awesome tray for me (I have it on display at my coffee station), and it was filled with all sorts of coffee and hot cocoa goodness!
Olivia and Emmy played beautifully, the conversation flowed, and we are looking forward to getting together again soon!  Sarah is a sweetheart who I met through blogging, and now that I live closer to her I will get to see her more often!

When Sawyer got off the bus, I decided we would take a drive to Middletown to walk up and down Main St. and see all the fabulous scarecrows and houses decorated for the season.  There were a total of 47 different scarecrows!  I will spare you that many pictures and share a few of my favorites.  Pardon my kids- they were having too much fun being goofballs and posing with the scarecrows!

The Cat in the Hat

Where's Waldo?

Blowing in the Wind!

Edward Scissorhands

Angry Bird

Katy Perry, but Emmy thought it was Blueberry from Strawberry Shortcake!

Fancy Nancy

Minnie Mouse
Some of the houses were decorated well!

These houses were not really decorated much, but I love their architecture!

And some fun shots of the kiddos because my mom and mother-in-law read this blog, too. :)

Happy Thursday and Happy Fall!
