Happy POWW!!! I have a fun little chair makeover for you today! A couple of years ago I picked up a few of these chairs for free from craigslist. As you can see, the caning was torn on a couple of them...
A year or maybe two ago, my dad helped me cut out some new thick plywood seats for the chairs so I could cover them. Since I only have 3 of these chars I am not keeping them as a set and plan to do each differently. My assistant helped me add batting and fabric to one wooden seat- we stapled it on. Here is my assistant, holding the newly cushioned seat.
Now, for the chair I used a new to me brand of paint! I had heard about a new paint called CeCe Caldwell's from my good friends Julie and Sharon, aka the Vintage Shabby Chicks. You can click here to see what the ladies say about the paint, but when I heard it was made in America, low VOC and packaged in recycled containers, and can be used without much prep or without sanding I knew I had to try it so I ordered some! I love buying products that are eco-friendly and socially responsible as well. I ordered Seattle Mist which is a gorgeous gray and decided to test it on the chair. (Because I do NOT like sanding chairs, as I mentioned last week!)
So I did not sand and merely wiped the chair with a rag to remove dust. I applied the first coat of paint, and it went on very easily- it was very liquid like and easy to work with. It dried quicker than any paint I have ever worked with but because it is so fluid the finish is smooth and not streaky. It also dries much lighter than the paint goes on when wet. After just one coat the paint stuck like no other I have tried. I added a second coat for better coverage, and then distressed by hand. I applied CeCe's wax with a brush and the results were beautiful. The chair has a gorgeous rustic and weathered look that I love! Check it out....
And here is my assistant modeling the chair for us, in her gymnastics outfit. She only takes the class once a week, but almost every day at some point changes into her clothes and practices dance and tumbling moves. She is a funny gal.
So there you have it.... a fun little chair, an adorable assistant, and a fabulous new paint!
So what have you been up to? Please remember the rules- I have been a little more lenient but I am going to start deleting posts again if the rules aren't follows. Sorry guys!
RULES:
1. Must be a follower.
2. YOUR PROJECT MUST BE A FURNITURE BUILD OR REDO. I allow portions of the house, such as built-ins, cabinets, vanities, etc that are more like furniture, but anything else is pushing it!
3. YOUR PROJECT MUST BE NEW TO THIS LINK PARTY. I do not want you linking up the same projects week after week. I already saw it the first time!
4. No Etsy shops or the like. This party is for creative sharing and not selling.
5. Place my button or a text link in your sidebar or post. If it is not there, you will not be able to be featured.
And yes, I know I sound like a big meanie, but to me it is about respect and if you can't follow the rules, that shows a lack of respect- not to me, but also to the other people who come here to link.
Now, let's see whatcha got! And remember to leave others some comment love!

These look great! I love that you kept the vintage feel.
The chair looks fantastic! I love the fabric of course and I also heard about that paint....I just love how it turned out on the chair. Hopefully next week I'll be able to link something up.
Thanks for hosting! Your chairs turned out amazing!
Great color on the chair Cassie. Your model is cute too. Thanks for hosting.
Hi Cassie! Love the chair. I love, love, love the distressed grey. I'm really loving the greys right now! Thanks for hosting.
The paint sounds great...I guess it's a chalk paint like ASCP? I'll have to check and see the price because ASCP is EXPENSIVE! I like that it's made in the US too! Cute assistant!
I just posted a basket I redid....sorry, I haven't posted here before except for furniture and didn't realize the rule...feel free to delete it! No hard feelings....my fault!

So, so pretty! And a paint that doesn't require you to sand first? I must check this out. I loathe sanding--especially the little decorative details, ugh--and have put off furniture projects for that exact reason.
LOVE that chair & your cute little assistant :)
I see that you ordered it--did you get it online? I can't find a distributor near me. :/
Love your chair, both the color and the fun fabric! I wish I had a cute little assistant!
A darling assistant! I love her cute little painted toe nails, too! The chair looks great, Cassie. I have not heard of this paint before. No sanding. Perfect! Very pretty.
Love your chair! That fabric is great... I've heard of Cece's and have been wanting to try it to see how it compared with chalk paint. Is there a distributor in the Mid-Atlantic region that you can recommend?
What a cute little assistant you have. I love having my little girls help me out too... get to spend time with them, teach them something, and get something done all at once! Can't beat that.

Awesome, love your chairs and your hired help! So that paint sounds like ASCP kind of application, would love to know more about it!

I just LOVE your chair. I'd love to know how you attached the covered seat. Please share!!
Very cute! And she is your double!
I love the way your chairs turned out- LOVE the color! They'd look great in a room with the chest I just linked up :)
You chairs are gorgeous!! I am one of the retailers for CeCe Caldwell Green Paint. You are to right. It is amazing paint. If anyone had questions feel free to direct them to me. I am happy to answer any. You can also see some other CeCe projects on my blog. I can help to direct you to local retailers or you may order from my blog page. Thanks so much for sharing. Leslie
Oh my gosh I'm totally copying you on this seat. I still have that red chair that I did a horrible job of reweaving! Thanks for the idea Cassie!
Hi Cassie...the chair turned out beautiful!! Love the distressing and chair cover. Glad you liked the CeCe Caldwell "green" paint. I'd like to remind your readers that they may order this paint and wax at www.vintageshabbychicks.com
Thanks so much Cassie, Julie
Cassie that chair is right up my alley and Emmy is the perfect model (in her summer clothes too!). Can't wait to see how you do the other 2.
What a cute little assistant! Love the chevron fabric you paired with the chair!
Yay!!! A new Cece convert! I am going to be selling it too through my store owner where I sell my things. Seattle Mist is my favorite. I went to a Cece class a few weeks ago and I fell in love. I am going back for another class and training in March. Can't wait! I am so happy to see you talking about it!
Sorry, I am so excited, I forgot to tell you my project I linked up is Cece Caldwell "Santa Fe Turquoise". Love your assistant!!!
Your chair and assistant are just lovely!
nice paint color Cassie!

Yeah.. I have a chair like that.. One of a set of four... The caning place was going to charge me $125 to cane it, it won't accept sheet cane! I will be changing all four bottoms out similar to this... Also, I had a problem linking, my picture didn't show so I did it again.. Sorry, the first one says something about "funky chairs" feel free to delete as I couldn't! Thank you!
Cassie I'd love to know your thoughts on Cece's! I've been looking into being a vendor for them so I'd love to hear any tips you have for working with it.
PS Emmy is the sweetest little lady! I love her smile!
What an adorable assistant! That makes it fun. I really like the paint color you used on your chair. The fabric is great too but I'm just realling liking that paint shade. I don't have any furniture this week so I'm gonna just go through and drool at everyone elses makeovers. Enjoy the rest of your week!
Man she is such a CUTIE!!! Love the chair and that paint sounds awesome. and off subject but Glee is awesome tonight!! ;)
You DO have an adorable assistant!
The chairs came out great, btw. I love that the fabric choice makes them a bit playful.
that child is the spitting image of you! love the chair finish!
That turned out great! Not only is CeCe Caldwell's Paints made in the USA, they have NO VOC, not low! All green! It's a wonderful product! Such a good project and a wonderful assistant!
I have an addiction to chairs and I adore yours. Love it. Stop over for my giveaway.

Thanks for hosting I appreciate it.
Is she cheap? Not like, floosie, cheap, but like, I need to recover my chairs AGAIN and I'm whiny about it, cheap help needed...What a cutie-patootie!
LOVE the assistant!Super cute chair too!
Thanks for hosting another great party!
Intrigued! I've been curious about that paint. Your chair looks lovely! And your assistant? The cutest!
Thanks for hosting!
Thank you for hosting! I am new to your site...love it! Your chairs turned out amazing! It looks like you had a lot of great help!
That chair is stunning! I love the color and the finish. And I just realized that beautiful hutch you featured from this POWW party is also done in the CeCe Caldwell paint. Hmmm...wonder if this paint is going to give ASCP some competition?
