Piece of Work Wednesday Furniture Link Party Number 76!

Happy POWW!  I hope you all enjoyed a gorgeous President's Day!  We did here- the sun was shining all day here!  In the morning we made "candy surprise cookies".  I used my tried and true chocolate chip cookie recipe, but we used lots of leftover Halloween candy broken into bits in place of the chocolate chips.  Here is a little glimpse of our candy....
 And our "candy surprise cookies"....
They are indeed yummy!  And it was a great way to get rid of some candy.
Speaking of baking, I also made these S'mores cookie bars I found on pinterest this past weekend.  My pan was 9"x9" so I didn't have enough for the entire layer of cookie on top. So i just crumbled the topping and added some more crunched up graham crackers.  The picture below is form the original link.  But let me tell you, they are soft, chocolatey, marshmallowy, and divine.  YUM.
update: made these for tomorrow night and they are freaking good. i think they are calorie free, too. think i am going to make these for "something new saturday!"
We have started a new thing with our kids called "Something New Saturday".  Every Saturday they have to try a new dinner, and if they try it, they get to try a new dessert.  It's been a lot of fun so far, and the kids are getting much better at trying new things.
Anyhow, this is NOT a baking blog, and it never will be, so let's get to the furniture.  A couple weeks ago I shared a chair makeover with you.  I had two other chairs just like it, but one had caning that was still in good condition.  It is the one on the right in this picture...
I had some of CeCe Caldwell's "Memphis Blue" on hand (which is available to order here).  I love the pretty shade of blue, and love that it is named after Memphis.  Chris and I actually lived there for a short time.  Memphis is home to the first apartment we shared back when we were livin' in sin!  Anyhow, all I did to prep this chair was make a couple of repairs to the legs which had minor splits.  So just some glue and a couple clamps was all it took.  I did not sand this chairs, and just brushed the paint right on.  I gave it two coats, and then distressed it with 160 grit sandpaper by hand.  Then I used CeCe's wax, using a rag to wipe it on, and a brush to get into the detailed hard to reach areas of the chair.  And here it is now!  And I am loving the blue next to my house (though I am not keeping this chair) so I am feeling good about thinking I will eventually paint the doors some shade of blue. :)

This chair would be so pretty at the head of a table, or at a desk.  It will be available as of Wednesday at Wild Rose.

Now let's see what you have been up to this week!  Remember the rules!  Rule-breakers do not get featured.

Shut up! You did not live in Memphis? I grew up there! Out in Cordova... I sighed when I saw you say the color you used was "Memphis Blue"...which, by the way, is a beautiful color...

Your chair is so darn adorable. I want it to come to my house and visit.

I saw that recipe for the smores bars. I am the biggest marshmallow and chocolate fan. Hello, Marshmallow and Cream and Nutella? Marriage made in heaven. I am afraid to make these. I would eat the whole pan.
