A Chalkboard Tray and a Little More Tag

I am over at The DIY Club today sharing how I made this tray into a chalkboard and got it to hang on the wall....

Also, while you are over there, be sure to check out the details for this mont's DIY Club party!  As usual the prize package is filled with tons of DIY products!  Click on the image below to see the prize package!

Recently I shared a post where I was tagged in a game of blog tag.  I was tagged a couple more times since then, so thought it would be fun to answer the questions I was asked.

Cathy from Room RX (who by the way is so talented and sweet!) tagged me with these questions....
1) Do you like to cook or bake?
I love to bake!  I am not much of a cook, but I love to bake cookies, muffins, bars... anything sweet.... with my kids!  Every Saturday we do something new saturday where they have to try a new dinner and they get to pick a new dessert to try as well.  This allows for some fun baking together.  Of course I gave up flour products for lent, so that puts a damper on baking for a little bit.
We recently made these....

2) My one guilty pleasure is....?
LMN movies.  really.

3) To unwind at the end of a long day I....?
Go lay in bed around 8 pm, sometimes with my kids, sometimes alone.  I like to just lay there with my feet up, scroll through blogs, or flip through magazines.  And watch my lifetime movies. ;)  Or Glee or American Idol.

4) Where do you do your blogging?
I do most of it in the kitchen.  I like to sit by the window and have my coffee, too.

5) I could eat a whole bag/box/package of... in one sitting?
Ice cream.  I am a bottomless pit when it comes to ice cream... Last Saturday night after the kids went to bed I opened a pint of South Mountain Creamery's (local place) Birthday Cake ice cream.  The only thing that stopped me was that I knew my kids would be sad if I ate it all!

6) White wine or red?
RED.  Malbec more specifically.
Cuma Organic Malbec 2010 / 750 ml.7) My idea of the perfect day is....?
Wake up around 7:30 am, and have a good breakfast of oatmeal, banana, and walnuts.  Spend the morning hiking with my family.  Come home and have some lunch, and then be able to work on furniture projects.  Have dinner with the family, a glass or two of wine, get the kids to bed, and then relax per question 3.

8) The room in my home that I like the best is...?
My dining room.  I love the colors and elements.

9) The accomplishment I am most proud of in the past year is...?
For me, it's recognizing that I need to slow my pace down, and accepting that that is OK.  I tend to go a million miles per hour, and knowing and accepting that I needed to slow down was an accomplishment for me!

10) What song can't you get out of your head right now?
I think it might just be called "Hello" and is in that preview for that new Paul Rudd, Jennifer Anniston movie.  Every time I hear it, I walk around the house singing it for a good hour or so after.

11) What is one item on your "bucket list?"
I am not a daredevil, so mine is not anything really adventurous.  I would love to see Alaska and the Western part of Canada.

Tiffany from Living Savvy also tagged me.  Here are her questions and my answers:

1.  How many times a day do you check email, Facebook, twitter, Pintrest?
I check Pinterest usually 2-3 times a day, I don't use twitter, Facebook is around the same as Pinterest.  Email though.... ugh.... more than I should!  Especially since it is accessible by phone!

2.  What is your favorite reality show?
American Idol, baby!  I have been a fan since season 1, and now my kids enjoy watching it with me and they make up songs and do their own auditions during commercial breaks, so that makes it much more fun now!

3.  Where would you have a vacation house?
Costa Rica.  Chris and I travelled there for our one year anniversary and fell in love with it.  We didn't wait to leave!  It's so beautiful, so romantic, inexpensive.  I actually cried the day we left to return home.

4.  Heels or flats?
Flats!  Not only are they more comfortable for me, but I am married to a man who is 2" shorter than me.  I don't want to tower over him!

5.  If you weren't {current career path} you would be ________
Current career path?  career?  What is that?  ;)  I dread if the day ever comes when I have to go out there and get a real job and apply and submit a resume.  UGH.  So I hope I can continue on my creative furniture journey and shop space!  BUT, if i were not doing that, and money were no issue, and travel wouldn't mean leaving my family, I would love to write for a Travel magazine and see places all over the world, find the hidden gems, and write about them.

6.  Hoarder, Donate, or throw away?
I am a combination of the first two.  I hoard vintage items I think I could potentially sell, and I am constantly donating shoes, clothing, and other housewares.

7.  Favorite fast food place
I don't eat fast food.... I don't really like any of it.  I guess if I had to choose I would say Subway.

8.  What is the one item you want to change in your house right now?
The Kitchen.  It's gross.  But we will live here for-like-ever, so I have got plenty of time!
This picture is from move-in day, but you get the idea...

9.  Do you have any hidden talents?
I can put my right hand down on a table and turn it 360 degrees.  Is that a talent? Or just a weird defect?

10.  Do you try clothes on before you buy them or try them on at home and then return?
If it is a t-shirt I usually buy and then return if it doesn't fit.  But dresses and pants I always try on.  I tend not to buy these items when I don't feel good about myself though as I know the trying on part will leave me feeling defeated.

11.  What do you like most about blogging?
FRIENDSHIPS!!!!!!

Happy Sunday!  Hope you have a great day!

I love your dining room! Those chairs are awesome!
I'm the same way with ice cream! We just never buy it because it will be gone in one sitting.

I love this game... it's so fun to get to know everyone better! I'm a sucker for ice cream too. I always need a little something sweet before bed. You're dining room is seriously amazing and I know your kitchen will be too.

I love your dining room too! Those chairs! What part of Costa Rica did you and Chris go to? We went there on a belated honeymoon, and while we had fun, I have a feeling we weren't on the "nice" side of it. We did get to see a stingray though that was about the size of a car. Scary!

Super fun post! Your dining room is awesome. If you should wake up one morning and find everything in it missing...I...Um...Er...it wasn't me who took it all.

Love hearing more about you and finding more things we have in common! I used to be much more of a dare devil (still am a little bit), but I would love to spend time traveling Alaska. (I would do some serious kayaking while I was there).

I feel the same way about having to go out to a real "job". I am not sure I could cut it after being my own boss for so long. If I didn't have husband and kids though, I would be the travel writer. I used to watch Samantha Brown and day dream what life would be like if I had her job. Bliss.

I love my own home too, we will be here forever as well. It is a really good feeling to know this is where your kids will grow up and come back to. It makes me feel very grounded.

It was fun learning some new stuff about you. I have the same problem with ice cream and for that reason I don't buy the pints! Wish we were the same on the fast food thing, I don't love it but there are days where it is pretty darn yummy! Let's go to Costa Rica!!
