Last week I picked up this guy at the Salvation Army.
He (yes, it is a he) needed some love as you can see. He had a broken leg (which I repaired before taking this picture) and those horrible handles needed to be removed, and holes filled. It was a shame that I had to fill holes, because I would have liked to have kept the wood grain showing. Anyhow, once all the repairs were made, I sanded the entire piece, and sanded off the old paint. I didn't have quite the color I wanted on hand so I mixed up a few colors and created a peacock blue. I painted the entire piece, distressed it lightly, waxed it, added sparkly new knobs, and voila!
Much better!

That's about the color we're painting the kitchen. Love it!
And I love the lines of the piece. That midcentury modern look is awesome. My friend just bought a house built in 1950, and I'm trying to come up with a gift for the new place. I'll be on the lookout for something like this!
That's a gorgeous shade of blue, lovely job!
Sooooo much better...and those knobs...yummy... I've changed my mind. I want a mid-century house now. Guess I'll have to break the news to Morgan...
Love that piece. You did a great job. beautiful color. What color is that? I need to paint a desk for my son and I love the color that you used.
You knock projects out so fast! Wish you were here to do my daughter's dresser. I'm procrastinating...
Love it! I have fun mixing paint colors, the only problem is, those are usually the colors everyone likes best and I can't remember how to make it again!

What a great find, we used to have an awesome salvation army store that only sold furniture and home goods but they closed it. Love that color and sideboards make great tv stands these days.
Awesome. I want to make a bloggie stamp that when I reply in the comment box I just stamp the 'Bliss thinks this is awesome' stamp, cause that says it all.
~Bliss~

Save that color combo...it's PERFECT!!!! ;-)
Love the color and the whole piece! What a lovely job you did. Megan
What a JEWEL of a mid-century modern piece! Why don't they have furniture like that at my thrift stores, I mean fo real?!
First time on the blog. Wow, you really do a great job on redoing a piece! Very talented. However, that wood graining was beautiful and its a shame you chose to cover it. What a great example of mid-century wood work. With some proper restoration instead of maybe a complete redo, I feel that you could saved a great piece of furniture history. thoughts for next time maybe. That said, you do have a way with mixing paint and that color is beautiful!
Cassie this piece is on Apartment Therapy!

First of all Miss Cassie, the fact that you got this piece last week and it's done is so annoying LOL!!I'm just sayin' this is a blue beauty I love it. It took me two weeks to paint the table I posted for Suzy's party....I'm such a slacker.
So stunning, I had to feature it!
