Piece of Work Wednesday Furniture Link Party Number 78!

Happy POWW!  Clearly this post is going up earlier than usual.  I am a morning person and decided that since most of my posts go live at 6 am-ish, I would start the party at 6 am from now on.  I mean, it's never to early to party is it?

Before I get to my furniture makeover this week, I have a couple items of interest for you.
First, of all, I recently shared a guest post at A to Being Creations.  I revisited an ooooooold project, and shared several of my older French style pieces.  here is the piece I shared in its BEFORE state:

Head on over to Ashley's awesome blog to see what I did with it!

Secondly, I wanted to share a picture of Cora with you.  I went to Heather's house on Sunday to help her decide on some paint colors, and just to visit, and I got to see Cora.  It took all of my strength not to just squeeze and hug her because she is the CUTEST little thing!  All things considered, she is doing very well and is now just over 6 months past transplant!  YAY!  I snapped a couple photos while she was having lunch....

Of course, she is still homebound and will be for another 6 months.  When I left their home, Heather was ready to hit the paint store and asked "Who wants to come with me?"  And Cora was quick to reply, "I go with you!"  Of course, she cannot, but her squeaky little voice melted me!  Anyhow, so many of you have been prayer warriors for Cora, and I wanted to share with you a little ray of sunshine today.

I am so excited about the dresser I have to share today... It is one of my all-time favorite styles.  Bun feet get me every time.  I found this piece at my favorite thrift shop.  It was a little pricier than I would have liked, but it came with a mirror that I can paint at some point, too.  Anyhow, here is the before.... look at those feet and OH that hardware....

I thought about painting it black; then I thought about painting it gray.  I thought about painting it cream with a timber top, black with a timber top..... I thought about a lot of scenarios, but nothing seemed to be just right.  Finally, I went with my go-to Ben Moore Wedgewood Gray since I always love that color!  I gave it two coats, distressed it, and then went over it all with Minwax Golden Oak just to warm it and antique it slightly.  Here is the final result!

I still love those feet!
Your turn- what have you been working on?  Please remember the rules!

Cassie, that looks great! I'm glad you use something other than chalk paint. I use all varieties of paint in my furniture and think it's good for people to see that good results can be had in many ways. Not everyone can afford chalk paint and although I love the finish I get, it's not the only game in town!

Those little bun feet would have me whipping out my wallet too, adorable!! Cora is so dang cute, I want to squish her face :)

the bun feet are cute, but cora is cuter. love your dreser--maybe golden oak is what my gray dresser needs.

Lesley said...

Dresser rocks! But, I don't call those 'bun feet.' To me a bun foot is just the bun. Those are lucious turned legs. :)

OMG... Cora is a precious little thing. What I wouldnt give to give her a big ole' squeeze. Love the project. Since I have starting refurbing furniture I have somehow become obsessed with "feet" {furniture feet, not real feet, real feet are gros- HA!!} and those are some great feet!

I just love that color! SO beautiful and loving the green undertones to the gray. You're such a good "distresser", I guess practice makes perfect but there really is an art to it.

The dresser looks great! We just remodeled our laundry room and painted it Wedgewood Gray...then I got a wild hair and kept going right into the kitchen. Beautiful color! Now I have a good bit left so I definitely will be finding a use for it on a furniture piece or two. :)

you picked a wonderful color for the dresser, cassie. I really hope someone else buys it soon because i've been thinking about it ALL day long and I'm really trying to resist the temptation to buy it. I even measured and thought about where it would go...

let's just say if it's still around Friday you might be hearing from me.

I miss commenting on your blog so much and I'm trying to get back to it! I miss blogging, too and I need to get back in the loop. You are doing beautiful things as always.

Keeping Cora in my prayers tonight. Thank you for updating us on her journey so often.
