Blue Montana Sky Drum Table

This week is the week of working on projects I found while with Gwen.  What can I say?  After I bought them, I got to work!  I found this table at the Salvation Army for $10.  I am not sure the base is original as it is sort of awkwardly large in my opinion, but I liked its quirkiness.  I felt that we were one and the same, this table and me.... quirky, and having a bottom that is slightly oversized compared to its small top. He he.

So you see that front foot?  Yeah.  I broke it when I was shoving the table into my car.  Oops.  I glued it as best I could, but the metal was slightly bent, too.... Oh well... quirky table.  I knew I was going to distress it, and it was still quite solid and sturdy, so I rolled with it.

I didn't sand it at all.  I simply wiped it clean, and went right to work with CeCe Caldwell's Blue Montana Sky.  I gacve it a couple hours to dry and applied a second coat and allowed that to dry.  I distressed it with 150 grit paper.  I love that this paint distressed beautifully, and adheres SO well.  Once all that was done, I waxed it with CeCe's clear wax, which is totally safe to use- NON toxic, people!  It goes on really easily, too.  After the wax dried, I buffed the table with a rag, put the hadware back on, and voila!

Just goes to show that you can be larger on the bottom, slightly awkward, but dressed right, you can still look fabulous! :) Sharing here: The Shabby NestPhotobucketDecorating Insanityfive days five ways | feature friday free for allMaking Lemonade

I also have the same table and it's original! Duncan Phyfe is the style. You need the base that large so it won't tip over! Your makeover is fantastic! I love it in that color....mine is getting painted soon, I can tell you!

Beautiful job! I love the color! You're so good working on your finds right away. I usually let them languish in the scary garage for awhile before actually working on them. Great post! You're too funny!

Love the color!! How did you like the CeCe's products. I haven't tried them yet but I really love the color selection. I just wish someone closer carried it. I don't prefer ordering supplies online....paying shipping kills me!

Hey Cassie...Love this drum table!! I have a fun tip you can try next time you distress using Cece. Just take a damp rag after the paint has dried and distress away...its so easy you can't believe it...no more sanding!!! Thank you for the shout out:-) Julie

I'm so loving this table Cassie...what a great color. Is this paint similar to chalk paint? I mean similar finish?

Love you make over Cassie. I did a drum table like that in red with a dark stain over it....so beautiful. Don't you just love the CeCe Paints? We sell a ton of it in our store and online. They are so easy to use. Keep up the good work. Leslie

At first I thought it was the drum table from your living room :) I love this color! All their colors look amazing on, it's just so hard to decide which one!

I love that color! How do you find Cece's as opposed to Annie Sloan's? I've still yet to take up a brush (sticking with spraying for now), but I like to accumulate knowledge for the future:)

Beautiful! Love the color & you did a fantastic job as usual! Easy & less messy tip for you, use a wet rag to distress.

Cassie - your table turned out great. I just finished a drum table too; for a minute there, I thought we had painted it in the same color, but then I realized I used Smoky Mountain instead:) Great minds...

The table looks great, where are you going to put it? And I think that is the first time anyone successfully made me feel better about being large on the bottom. I think.

Color is beautiful! Great job Cassie. You think I can use this paint on outside furniture (iron vintage ice cream parlor chairs)? I am just trying to find the right paint..

Gwen @ The Bold Abode said...

We are all just a little bit broken... but beautiful. We all just need a Cassie to help bring it out and let us shine...

It's so lovely and unique, just as you are. Though you do not share the disproportion, my friend.

Karah @ thespacebetweenblog said...

hahaha, from one larger on the bottom, slightly awkward to another, she's a hottie!

Oh my, this could have been me writing this post about breaking something on a piece of furniture before I even get it home. Love the color, love the finish. Blue Montana Sky is one of my favorites, and I have a similar sized table I am doing in the same color! I started it while I was doing the paint demo at PFM, and well, it needs to get finished. Thanks for the inspiration!

I have the mate to that table in my garage! If I can ever decide where to put it, I'll paint it and bring it in.
I love the color you used.
