Guest Posts and Chicks

First of all, I want to say "Happy Birthday" to my dad!  Love you, miss you, and hope you have a wonderful day! Hope the haggis at the Celtic festival was all you dreamed of and more....

Today, you can find me in a couple of places at some of my favorite blogs, hanging out with some of my favorite chicks!

I am over at Shine Your Light kicking off Lisa's Mother's Day inspired series, "Celebration of Motherhood."  I am sharing some of my experiences as a mother as well as some memories I have shared with my own mom.

I am also over at Decor and the Dog sharing my dreams for our kitchen, when we redo that.  It;s the one room I really need professional help with, so for now, these are just my design plans, but I hope you will stop by to see them!   And to see the face of "the dog".   He's cute...

Also, it's Wednesday, so that means that "Wednesday Wishes" are being posted today at A Place 2 Call Home.  Usually I share some things I am living, but today, Jen is taking the reins!  Swing by and see what she has to say!

And speaking of chicks, I want to share some new additions to the living room.  I recently won a giveway from Lydia at Pudel Design.  Lydia was so sweet to open her giveaway worldwide, even though she lives in Germany.  And I was thrilled to win, because I really loved what she was giving away.  Lydia is a talented artist, and she was giving away a series of 3 chick paintings that she created.  She also was giving away a fun insect pillow!  I have added everything to the living room.  For now the paintings are on the mantle (well two of them as I could only fit two, but I think I am going to hang them on the wall.  Here they are for now....

And the third that didn't fit...

Ok, see that drum table?  Eventually we plan to have some built in bookcases flank the fireplace, but for now that table sits in the corner.  I am thinking if hanging the paintings on the blank wall over there... What do you think?

And here is the awesome bug pillow! And yes, I brought in some pink with the ikat pillow, too.  It's Spring!  Color, people!

And just because they were hanging out and looking so cute...
Here is Charlie (who turns 12 on May 12!)  He typically is a little camera-shy, so this photo is a blessing!

And 8 1/2 year old Jake.  Jake is not camera shy, and is just as sweet as he looks.

Thank you so much, Lydia, for my awesome paintings that I will cherish forever!  And they are so perfect in this home, since we live in a rural area with tons of chickens!

Be sure to check out Lydia's blog, Pudel Design.  Lydia is immensely creative and talented.  Just look at her bedroom.... I love it!

And also make sure you check out her living room.  Oh, and she painted that awesome octopus you can see peeking out!

So, lots of places for you to check out today!  Have fun!

Those paintings are too cute! I think they'd look perfect above the drum table. And as much as I hate bugs, I gotta say your bug pillow is very cool.

I love the family room...the layout (architecturally) is the exact same layout I had to design a floor plan in for my entrance project to FIDM! I did the layout very similar to how you have it set up and even put in built in's right where you said you want them eventually. Love the cute bug pillow...and my word...your pups are so sweet!
