Friday Guest: Pam from Simple Details

Happy Friday!  What a week- so glad to be back to myself and up and at it again!  The day that I cut my leg Sarah and I had plans to thrift by me, and then the next day plans to thrift by her.... well obviously that did not work out.  So I have been waiting two weeks to thrift with Sarah!!!  And bonus, Jill came along as well!  We had so much fun, and I scored all of this for under $62! :)  It was worth the two week wait.  Thank you, Sarah and Jill, for a fun morning of thrifting, and for not buying this dresser before I got there.  And do you see all the other goodies?
dresser.  fun chair.  toad or fairy house for our garden.  brass duck bowl (of course!). mouse and cheese bookends. trays (one engraved '57). brass trumpet box. brass dragonfly box.  cool silver aged vase. deer pencil holder for Emmy.  all this goodness!!!

It's Friday September 14th, and that means two things:
First: It's Chris' birthday today!  He is 36 today and is leaving us to celebrate and golf with his brother instead of having homemade cake here.  We might just make a cake (from a mix, duh) to celebrate in his honor.  And Emmy made him a lovely homemade card with pumpkins and ghosts that says "I love Dad".  I think my love of Halloween is rubbing off on her.  But seriously, happy birthday, Chris!  We love you!

Second:I have a wonderful guest for you today!  Pam from Simple Details is one talented and sweet lady.  I am so happy I have gotten to know her- she has an amazing eye, and always has something nice to say. Recently, she finished her son's room. It is amazing- sophisticated and perfect for a boy!

And her living room is a fabulous balance of comfortably cozy with a little glam...

I think you are going to love Pam and her style just as much as I do!

Hi there Primitive and Proper friends, I'm Pam over from Simple Details.
A huge thank you to Cassie, one of sweetest and most inspiring in all of blogland,
for asking me over today to share a little slice of what I blog about over at Simple Details.
Cassie isn't aware of this, but we often chat about her at our house, you see Mr. Simple
can no longer park in our garage, and it's her fault! All of those pieces she transforms are
SO inspiring, now I'm always on the lookout for junk treasures needing a little rehab,
and it's a tad out of control!
A recent find was a set of chairs, buffet and hutch for our dining room, the
reveal isn't ready quite yet, but I have a little sneak peek for you....one of the chairs!
It's so easy to find a single chair or little table inexpensively at garage sales, thrift stores,
or the neighbors trash :) and they are so versatile.
I've used the chair and a table I redid awhile back to create three inexpensive fall vignettes.

Halloween...

Painted branches from your yard, add a few construction paper bats, a simple framed 'eek!'
printed on scrapbook paper, an old floor lamp with the shade removed, thrift store books, and
my trendy fur vest rolled up to look like a pillow!

Ralph Lauren Look...

Change out the scary branches for tall sticks, 'count your blessings' print-out in a frame with
diy gold corners, a plaid pillow created from an old flannel shirt, a vase of herbs from
the garden, thrift store books, and a rustic creel found at a garage sale.

Modern Fall...

Unexpected colors orange and blue, and a large scale bold leaf print pillow give this a more
modern feel, a diy lamp adds a mid-century look, mixed metals - chrome on the lamp
with the gold tray and vase, a round colored glass vase with simple leaves from our yard,
and a diy sea urchin all lend to the more contemporary look.

Hope you're inspired to pick up a chair or table and add some fall to a corner at your house!

Thank you again Cassie, for inviting me over and your countless inspiring posts!

Some serious Pam talent going on in those vignettes and that's why I heart her :) I think my favorite is the Halloween look. And clever to just remove the shade for a spookier look. And it looks like you got some great stuff all for not much out of pocket - I love to thrift. Have a good weekend Cassie.

Not sure what happened there. Maybe it freaked out because I said gerat style instead of great style :/

I can't decide which one I like best, because I really like all three! And that's the way it should be :-) But I do know which addition I thought was the most creative, and that's Pam's use of her trendy furry vest rolled up as a pillow. Now that's pure genius!
