Now, you are going to have to pardon me a little, because I don't think my green is exactly emerald green, but I was working with what I had on hand (aka, no extra cost!).
This past weekend at the barn sale I purchased a frame from one of my fellow vendors, Charm City Farmhouse, and I knew I was going to make it into a chalkboard. In my head I was picturing a black one, but then remembered I was supposed to come up with something emerald by today.... oops. And I had green chalkboard paint on hand from Rustoleum, so I went with that. :) I measured the inset of the frame, and cut a piece of MDF o size. I gave it two coats of the chalkboard paint and allowed it to dry for 3.5 days. Why 3.5 days?? Because I painted it Sunday, and then Wednesday afternoon rolled around and I thought.... "Oh crap, I need to get that chalkboard put together and take some pictures of it! So you could let it cure for the 24 hours they suggest, or for 3.5 days- either way works. I rubbed it all over with chalk, wiped it off, and was ready to write. I chose a favorite line from my favorite song about the color green, and maybe the only song actually about the color green.
I am happy to branch out from the black chalkboard once in a while... I love how fresh it feels with the green!
While I was in the dining room, I snapped some pictures of how I freshened up the dining room after Christmas as well. Once all the decorations came down, I needed a "fresh" look in there, and I actually used emerald colored glass to do that. (And yes, that is a snowflake hanging down from the light fixture, but there is a reason for that.... more to come next week, maybe!)
I just love the clean and crisp feeling this color brings to a space! After all, "green is the color of Spring, and green can be cool and friendly like." (Thank you, Kermit the Frog).

Fresh spin on the chalkboard, Cassie! Fabulous color ~ xo Heidi
One of my favorite colors - who knew I was such a trend setter!
I actually have a green chalkboard and love it - great idea to paint it!

Cute chalkboard! I love green, it always looks fresh. And Mother Nature really is the best decorator after all! ... And I always save wine bottles in great shades of green! ... Have a great weekend!
I am loving that green chalkboard! This time of the year it is nice to see a little green!
Kermit always was a hip dude.
Love the chalkboard. A lot!
The green chalkboard is so vintagey to me, I love it! Also the green glassware…..crazy pretty on your table with the light shining through it!
The green chalkboard is so lovely, it is a nice change from all the black chalkboards. And the green on the table is so pretty! I want some green now and not the green that was my laundry room. ;)
It ain't easy being green...unless you're a cool looking vintage chalkboard! Love it :D
Oh Kermit...who knew you were such a wise guy?! Have a great weekend, Cassie.
Ha! I was thinking, 'I've never heard this song!' :) Love the colored chalkboard paint, I need to try it on something!
Love the touches of green in the dining room. Cleaning under the bed, (getting a new mattress, so switching mine to the guest room blah blah blah) I found a great green vase! I've never been a fan of green, but some shades are great.
you know I love the chalkboard! :)
love all chalkboards. (and frames)
happy Friday Cassie!

I was thinking there is no way I'll find any emerald green around here anymore - I purged of that about 17 years ago. Then I saw your bottles and realized in my kitchen window I have some emerald soda bottles that were too pretty to get rid of. Now they are also in style!

This makes me think of home. Growing up in Germany we had green chalkboards :) So I love it!
Looks great! That's why I pick up the vintage frames. I liked the gold one, and coupled with the green, it has a royalty feel to it!

Love the classic green C:
double cute because of the quote!
Just got caught up on all your posts!! :) I am loving the green glass- I come across some periodically, but none in any shapes as nice as yours. I love green chalkboards too! so authentic!!
Your barn sale looked amazing, and all your furniture pieces are fabulous. I have a tall dresser similar to your turquoise one, and I think I'm going to have to redo it. It's been sitting too long unloved in it's current color scheme. :(
Seeing Emmy's doll house makes me want to play! darling!
I didn't know chalkboard paint is available in colors other than black. Your chalkboard would look so awesome in a conservatory / sunroom with lots of plants. Green on green :) Have a great weekend, Cassie!!

The green is fun for the chalkboard. Great quote! I love your green glass candlesticks. My mom collected green glass...it's so pretty. Happy weekend Cassie!
Love it :) Gold frame - awesome. Green chalkboard - awesome. Kermit - Awesome!

Great green...great green "black" board!! Clever idea!
Nooooo. Reminds me of school. LOL.
Can you tell I was a stellar student?
hehehe
Love the table setting :)
Happy weekend ~ Shannon
I am inspired to whip out some green CeCe paint and make a chalkboard! I think I have black chalkboard overdose. Love the color with the Gold.
Good ol' kermit!! I love the green chalkboard for a change!! and gold is just so...classy ;-)
I really like the color green you used and it looks so great with the other greens and blues in the room!
What a great project! My maiden name is Green so that particular poem has quite a bit of meaning to me. I hope to come visit the barn sometime soon so I can scoop up a Cassie original myself!
Haha Kermit was a wise frog. Love the freshness all of the green brings!
Love that gold frame with the emerald-enough-for-me chalkboard! :)
The chalkboard looks great Cassie - but those green class candlesticks are just beautiful!!
I lurva lurva lurve it! ...and a true emerald would look weird as a chalkboard, don't you think? I love the color of yours!!
Actually, there is a song "40 Shades of Green"; and when my now-93 year old Aunty was in Ireland on a trip a few years ago, the group ate at either a small cafe or a pub by that name. She tells me that there really were 40 shades of green in the place; cups and saucers, wallpaper with different trims up top; linens, etc. I wish I knew exactly where it was, but she no longer remembers. Anyway, the song is great; I think you can find it on YouTube, too. p.s. My Mum's (and my) favourite colour is green! Any green! I don't follow trends; I wear and put in my home what I like, which is really what I expect to find in other people's homes, too. Makes it more interesting, don't you think?
Great post and I love your blog. See you again! ~ Linne
