Pumpkin Parade Day 1: White Dipped Pumpkins with Gilded Stems

Happy Monday!  Hope you all had an awesome weekend!  Mine was a whirlwind of hard work and fun!  The Hometalk Halloween Hunt was a huge success for Sweet Clover; we could not be happier.  I thank each and every one of you who came!  The link party will go live on Wednesday for that and run for 2 weeks!  After the event at Sweet Clover, Sarah and I headed downtown for some shopping and dinner.  We both had tied and sore feet so we walked slowly, but we had a blast!  I will have to share some of my finds with you- I found one piece of clothing that had to come home with me! :)
Yesterday my family took our family photos with the talented and gorgeous Eddie of Jalapeno Photography.  Even though it was 87 degrees outside we donned our wool and flannel for the sake of great family photos!  The kids were so well behaved, and all I know is that my family really loves me to stand in the heat in Fall clothes for a photo shoot! :)  I can't wait to see how they turned out and I will of course share with you!

So today kicks off the Pumpkin parade!!!

Today you can find fun pumpkin projects here, Shift Ctrl Art, and Decor and the Dog.
I am sharing a relatively easy project involving some of my favorite products, paint and golding wax!  I started with these mini pumpkins/gourds I found at the grocery store....

I used an old brush and with a heavy hand applied white paint to the top halves of some of my pumpkins (I wanted to keep some natural), so that the paint would drip.

I allowed that to dry and then I used gilding wax in King gold (similar to rub b buff) and applied it with my finger to the stems of my dipped pumpkins.  Here they are after they were completed....

And here they are gracing my dining room table, which is all set for Halloween!

I just love that touch of gold!

Here's a better view into the dining room with its new centerpiece....
Oh, and perhaps you noticed the new guy in the corner?  That would be the fiddle leaf fig I bought from Ikea and am hoping will survive my plant care skills. (very beginner level).  His name is Phinneas, and he's so cute!  I have even watered him a couple times.

Hope you enjoyed my super easy dipped and gilded pumpkins!

  7. LOVE the pumpkins (the way the white paint drips down is so cool)and the entire dining room centerpiece. Those candlesticks are fantastic. Good luck w/ the fiddle leaf! We've had one (from Home Depot) for a while and it has grown really, really fast with minimal care. I have it in my dining room window (it never gets direct light) and I just water it like once a week. So far so good!

  12. Phinneas...love him. Our fiddle leaf fig is named Fergus...I think they'd be fast friends.
And your pumpkins...well, I love them. The white and gold is perfect (of course) and they look great on your table. And yes, our projects are quite similar. :)

  16. Love those dipped pumpkins, and of course, the gooooold. Good luck with your Phinneaus, my plant died. Quickly. The only advice I can give is a well draining pot. I didn't have one. Hence the plant death. XO

  32. Those gilded stems rock. And I love the platform they are on on the table. Also, I also have an IKEA fiddle leaf. It's been about 6 months and growing like a weed! Mine loves a lot of sun (next to a bright window) and not a lot of water. Yours looks great!

  33. I love the center piece such a great fall/Halloween statement! Letting the white paint drip was a good call. I wish I would have used gilding wax on my stems seems like it,s easier and cover better than paint!

  34. Your centerpiece is beautiful. I'm on board with everyone else, love the dripping white, imperfect perfection. Love that gold color of the gilding wax. Where do you get that?

  36. I am SO not a holiday decorator. I rarely even change things out from summer to winter. I'm not a crafter, so that's part of it, but I think I'm also just too lazy! I do like your drippy pumpkins with the gold stems, though. Simple, but chic. That's my kind of holiday decorating.

  37. These are incredible! I like that they can span the Halloween - Thanksgiving season!
